Your Smart-Home Data Never Touches Our Servers
Dashable is local-first by design. Your browser talks directly to Home Assistant — Dashable’s servers are never in the path. We can’t see, store, or route your smart-home data, because it never comes to us.
Private by architecture, not just by policy
Security you can verify in the way the product actually works — not a promise buried in a privacy page.
100% Local Connection
Dashable runs in your browser and connects straight to your Home Assistant instance over your own encrypted connection. Your entity states, history, and camera feeds stream directly to you — never through us.
You Choose Where Your Token Lives
Keep your Home Assistant long-lived access token stored only in your local browser, so it never leaves your device. Prefer syncing dashboards across devices? Your credentials are stored encrypted — never in the clear. Your call, every time.
No Cloud Middle-Man
Unlike cloud dashboards that proxy every request through their own servers, Dashable adds nothing between you and your home. Less latency, less exposure, more control.
Encrypted End-to-End in Transit
Dashable connects to Home Assistant over a secure WebSocket (wss://), so every reading and command is encrypted on the wire — the same standard that protects your bank.

What “local-first” actually means
When you open a Dashable dashboard, the live data you see is fetched by your browser, from your Home Assistant, over a connection you own. Dashable’s cloud only stores your dashboard designs so you can log in anywhere — the real-time smart-home data itself is never sent to, cached on, or logged by our servers. There’s one honest nuance we’ll always be upfront about: your Home Assistant data never touches our servers (browser ↔ HA, directly), while your connection credentials can optionally be stored encrypted so your dashboards follow you across devices. Prefer maximum privacy? Local mode keeps everything in your browser.

Data vs. credentials — the honest breakdown
We think privacy claims should be specific enough to check. • Your smart-home DATA (entity states, sensor history, camera streams, commands): flows directly between your browser and Home Assistant. It never reaches Dashable. Ever. • Your CONNECTION DETAILS (your Home Assistant URL and access token): stored encrypted if you choose to sync across devices, or kept only in your local browser if you don’t. That separation is the whole point of local-first: the sensitive live data is architecturally impossible for us to see.
